Guided Meditations & Teachings
$15 / free for members
While it may be impossible to avoid difficult situations and conditions, it turns out that through training the mind in Buddhist meditation we can upend those troubling situations . . . to our advantage! This special practice, known as “transforming adverse conditions into the path,” enables us to integrate all of our experiences into our spiritual training. Living skillfully and creatively in this way makes our whole life meaningful and joyful.
Each class includes a short breathing meditation, a practical teaching (individual class topics below), a guided meditation on the class topic, and time for discussion and Q&A. You do not need to be Buddhist to benefit from these meditations. Everyone is welcome.
May 4 | Like the pure lotus arises from the mud, spiritual realizations arise from the difficulties in our life.
May 11 | When we truly understand the value of patience, we won't resent an opportunity to practice it.
May 18 | If we use our difficulties to develop compassion, we will increase our inner strength and purify our negative karma.
May 25 | Upsetting situations are the best opportunities to discover the freedom that comes from meditating on emptiness.
Monthly Potluck:
We have a monthly potluck after class on the last Sunday of the month. Bring a potluck item, or just come with your appetite. Everyone's invited!
